Company now has the industry’s second largest installed base of disk-based backup appliances with data de-duplication in medium-sized enterprises
ExaGrid Systems Inc., the leader in cost-effective, high performance disk-based backup solutions with data de-duplication, has announced record sales for the third quarter ending 30th September 2008. Sales for the period were up 25% compared to the previous quarter, and up 129% versus the same quarter last year. ExaGrid’s international sales were up 69% over the previous quarter.
ExaGrid added 54 new customers worldwide during the quarter. With more than 1,000 systems installed in more than 500 unique locations for more than 250 customers, ExaGrid now has the industry’s second largest installed base of disk-based backup appliances with data de-duplication in medium-sized enterprises.
Andy Palmer, EMEA Sales Director for ExaGrid, said: “Despite the current economic climate we are seeing real enthusiasm for our products from both private and public sector customers in the UK. We are looking to recruit new resellers to further enhance our existing network.”
Along with strong sales results, the company continued to operate in a variety of important areas during the quarter. Key achievements in Q3, 2008 included the following:-
- New commercial customer contracts – ExaGrid continues to win against its competitors, gaining a long list of new customers in key industries such as Healthcare, Legal, Engineering Services, Manufacturing, Oil & Gas, Education and United States state/local government. Customers include Hitachi Consulting, Kawasaki, Konica Minolta and Moto, the UK’s leading motorway service area provider.
- Expanded distribution channel – ExaGrid has added more than 30 new value-added resellers in the US, Canada and Europe, Middle East and Africa. In addition, ExaGrid products are available for purchase through DELL (Software and Peripherals) and through Softchoice.
- Product leadership – During the quarter, ExaGrid enhanced its Disk-based Backup System by shipping the ability to store 30TB full backup, plus retention, into a single ExaGrid system, ‘many-site-to-one’ backup capability for distributed data centres, support for Vizioncore vRanger Pro and advanced ‘backup-job-aware’ reporting. These product enhancements allow customers to significantly improve the way they manage their backups by allowing major data centres in multiple locations to backup to disk with de-duplication, and by providing unprecedented visibility into the true status of backup data throughout its life cycle within the system.
- Continued industry partnerships – In Q3, ExaGrid continued joint sales and marketing campaigns with several backup software and industry leaders, including DELL, Symantec and CA. Joint ExaGrid and DELL/CA/Symantec on-demand webcasts are available.
- US Federal Government contracts – ExaGrid has added many Federal Government customers, including departments within the US Army, US Navy, the Veterans Administration, the US Federal Courts, the House of Representatives and the Environmental Protection Agency.
“ExaGrid continues to be a fast-growing leader in the worldwide market for disk-based backup solutions with data de-duplication,” said Bill Andrews, president and CEO of ExaGrid Systems. “With the most cost-effective, highest performance and most scalable product, our worldwide sales to a diverse set of mid-sized enterprise companies increased substantially in Q3 2008.”
About ExaGrid’s technology
The ExaGrid system is a turnkey, plug-and-play solution that works with existing backup applications and enables faster and more reliable backups and restores. Customers report that backup time is reduced by 30 to 90 percent over traditional tape backup. ExaGrid’s patented byte-level data de-duplication technology and most recent backup compression, coupled with high quality SATA storage, reduces the amount of disk space needed by a range of 10:1 to as high as 50:1 or more, resulting in a price that’s often less than traditional tape-based backup.
